Join us on Monday, October 5th at 7:00 pm via Zoom for a presentation by Linda Corupe entitled Using Ontario’s Heir and Devisee records in Family History Research.
We will explore the records of our province's Heir and Devisee records, an important but sometimes overlooked resource for family historians and genealogists. Beginning ca. 1797, and continuing until the 20th century, the Heir and Devisee Commissions left behind a wealth of information. We’ll look at why these records were created, what information they can reveal about land ownership, inheritance, and family relationships, and how they can help connect ancestors to specific places and properties. The presentation will also provide an overview of how and where to find and interpret these records.Professional Genealogist, Family History Researcher and author of over 50 books, Linda Corupe, UE, has been researching genealogy and family history in Ontario and Quebec for more than 40 years. Her publications are invaluable resources for anyone researching the early years of Upper Canada.
