What's good in Brockville and area? Rideau Community Health raises awareness during Diabetes Awareness Month

November is Diabetes Awareness Month

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and Tracey Fuller from Rideau Community Health is helping educate the public about the disease.

She explained how diabetes affects the body.

Fuller highlighted the two main types of diabetes

She added that another type is gestational diabetes, which develops during pregnancy, usually around 24–28 weeks, and often resolves after childbirth.

She outlined early warning signs of diabetes.

Fuller also noted that frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, and reduced sensation in hands and feet are key symptoms.

She emphasized the importance of physical activity in preventing diabetes.
