Communities across Canada participate in Pink Shirt Day today, raising awareness about bullying in schools, workplaces and online. The movement began in 2007 when students in Nova Scotia wore pink to support a bullied peer.

Our Henry Allen spoke with Bev Heuving, program director, and Cadence Cairns, manager of programming and inclusion support with the Boys and Girls Club of Leeds and Grenville about the importance of Pink Shirt Day, and how people can show their support.

Heuving emphasized the importance of kindness for building strong communities.

The Leeds and Grenville chapter is relatively new, but is already making a positive impact in the community, says Cairns.

Cairns discussed how differences between people should be embraced.
