Growing Up on the Farm, a look into local agriculture, presented by Weagant Farm Equipment, also fueled by KUBOTA. Today, we are profiling Leacock Farms in Elizabethtown-Kitley.
Located between Frankfort and Jasper, Eleanor Renaud says her seventh-generation family farm has come a long way since it was an original land grant back in the early 1800s to her great-great-grandfather. Growing up with six siblings, she says they mostly produced dairy products, but now it's all about grass-fed beef, organic garlic, maple syrup and fresh produce.
Whether it's building fence, piling hay or planting crop, Renaud says the thing she loves the most about farming is turning around and looking at all you've accomplished at the end of the day. On top of contributing to the family farm, Renaud has been heavily involved with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) over the past 30 years to try and make a difference for the next generation of farmers.
