The Brockville community came together to raise $4,200 for nine-year-old Charley and her family through a fundraiser at the Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands Brockville ReStore.
The bake sale was held Saturday and drew support from staff, volunteers, donors, bakers and local businesses. Charley recently came through a 17-hour surgery and is now recovering, with further treatment ahead.
Organizers said the event went beyond fundraising, showing strong community support for the family during a difficult time. The fundraiser followed earlier efforts last fall when Brockville residents first rallied around Charley after her cancer diagnosis.
