The driver is scheduled to appear in court in December
Ontario Provincial Police say a Leeds OPP sergeant stopped a vehicle in Brockville on Wednesday, Nov. 26 after spotting it travelling at an “extreme rate of speed.”
Police report the vehicle was moving at more than 140 km per hour in a posted 50 km/h zone.
According to OPP East Region, the driver was a 25-year-old man from Brockville.
He was arrested and charged with performing a stunt by excessive speeding, operating an unsafe vehicle and failing to surrender an insurance card.
Police say the man was released at the roadside but was left without a car or a license following the stop. The vehicle was seized as part of the stunt-driving penalties.
The driver is scheduled to appear in court in December.
OPP continue to remind motorists that stunt driving can lead to immediate roadside license suspensions, vehicle seizures and significant fines.
They say high speeds remain a major safety risk on Ontario roads.
