Brockville homeowners to see slight property tax increase in 2026

Budget talks resume tonight

Brockville municipal staff are preparing the city’s 2026 budget under the mayor’s direction, following established practices.

Departments reviewed service levels, assets and past spending over the summer and fall. Senior staff and council assessed priorities, fiscal responsibility, and funding options ahead of public budget discussions.

At the end of the operating budget meeting on Tuesday night in council chambers, Mayor Wren said there'll be a property tax increase of 4.42% to cover rising costs and service demands.

Wren said we're talking about the average local homeowner with a home worth around $250,000.

The community partners budget meeting is next up tonight, followed by the capital budget meeting on Thursday. Visit the city's website for more.
