Brockville lowers flags for seven days after tragic deaths in Tumbler Ridge

The city says lowering the flags is a symbol of remembrance, respect and national unity during a difficult moment for the country

The City of Brockville is joining communities across Canada in mourning the tragic loss of life following recent events in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.

Flags behind Brockville City Hall have been lowered to half-mast for seven days in honour of the victims. City officials say the gesture recognizes the lives lost and shows support for grieving families and the wider Tumbler Ridge community.

Mayor Matt Wren offered condolences on behalf of council and residents.

“On behalf of the City of Brockville, I extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire community of Tumbler Ridge, B.C.,” Wren said. “As a gesture of sympathy, we will lower our flags and stand in solidarity as fellow Canadians at this extremely sad time.”
