Construction is expected to finish in August, ahead of the next winter ice season
Renovations are underway at the Brockville Memorial Civic Centre as part of the city’s Multi-Use Recreation Facility (MURF) project. The existing roof had reached the end of its life, developing leaks and safety concerns that needed immediate attention.
The $978,000 project, funded by the Ministry of Sport in 2025, began in mid-February with phased work to remove sections of the flat roof while keeping parts of the facility open. Starting March 16, the centre will close for steel roof removal to protect the public and workers.
During construction, the commercial lobby space remains accessible, and outdoor ball fields can still be used via the east side entrance. Barricades will mark the work area for safety.
City officials say the renovation is essential for the long-term future of recreation in Brockville. Construction is expected to finish in August, ahead of the next winter ice season.
