Brockville residents encouraged to kick off 2026 by donating blood

The annual Giving for Brian Blood Drive is coming up on Jan. 26, and residents are encouraged to check for available openings.

As 2025 comes to a close, the need for blood donations remains high heading into 2026.

Jill Gemmiti, Community Development Manager at Canadian Blood Services, said all donations are important, but some blood types are always in high demand.

She explained why there is a constant need for blood donors.

Donating blood doesn’t just help people who are sick; it can save anyone in need.

Gemmiti said Brockville residents have always been very supportive.

She also announced Canadian Blood Services’ goal to increase donor participation.

The annual Giving for Brian Blood Drive is coming up on Jan. 26, and residents are encouraged to check for available openings.

Even if locals cannot donate blood, attending the event, spreading awareness, or giving financially can make a difference while honoring the legacy of Brian Fraser, a beloved Brockville community member.

Registration and details are available through the Canadian Blood Services website.
