Communities rally as YMCA launches ambitious 2026 campaign to boost support

Funds raised this year will support initiatives such as youth recreation, food programs and leadership training

The YMCA of Eastern Ontario has launched its 2026 annual campaign, aiming to raise $440,000 to expand programs across the region.

The campaign, called Y Communities Thrive, focuses on improving access to services for children, youth and families, including meals, recreation and housing support.

Chief executive officer Rob Adams said the charity’s goal is to help people reach their full potential by building connections and confidence.

The organization said donations last year helped provide financial assistance to a quarter of members, deliver 30,000 meals and offer thousands of swim lesson days and camp weeks.

Funds raised this year will support initiatives such as youth recreation, food programs and leadership training.

Campaign events run from May through October, including community tournaments and fundraising activities across Eastern Ontario.

The organization said every donation helps remove barriers and create opportunities, with examples ranging from summer camp access to lifeguard certification scholarships for young people across communities in need.
