A long stretch of hot and humid weather continues in Brockville–Prescott, with humidex values expected to reach up to 42 through Thursday. Daytime highs between 31°C and 34°C, combined with overnight lows around 21°C, are giving little break from the heat.
Environment Canada warns that the humidex will stay above 35 for more than five days. A cooler airmass is expected Thursday night to end the heat event.
Extreme heat can be dangerous. Older adults, young children, and people with health problems are at higher risk. Check on neighbours and loved ones often.
Drink water often—even before feeling thirsty. Limit outdoor activities, stay in cool places, and wear light clothing. Never leave anyone or pets inside parked cars.
Watch for signs of heat illness, including dizziness, headache, nausea, or dark urine. Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 9-1-1 if symptoms appear.
