Environment Canada is warning residents in the Brockville–Prescott region to prepare for heavy rain and a possible period of freezing rain starting tonight or early Wednesday.
Forecasters say 20 to 40 millimetres of rain is expected through Wednesday, with locally higher amounts possible in areas that receive thunderstorms. The ground in many places is already saturated or frozen, which means it will have little ability to absorb the rainfall.
A freezing rain warning is also in effect. Several hours of freezing rain could produce between two and five millimetres of ice before temperatures rise and the precipitation changes to rain by Wednesday afternoon.
The system is linked to a series of low pressure systems moving across southern Ontario.
