Interest in private ride sharing is increasing as commuters look for ways to reduce their fuel bills

As fuel prices continue to soar, local drivers are looking for ways to reduce the impact to their personal and household budgets. We went to some local gas stations and asked drivers what they were doing to deal with fuel at around $1.60 per litre. Some like, Kim were looking at alternative transportation modes.

Others like Michael were simply cutting back on non-essential travel.

Some were simply staying a home more, like Nick

Others, like Tyler were turning to fixed rate delivery services to avoid starting up their family vehicle

Interest in private ride sharing is increasing as commuters look for ways to reduce their fuel bills, but before accepting payment from someone looking for a ride to work, check with your vehicle insurance company first. Some policies state that accepting payment, instead of alternating vehicle use, constitutes a commercial activity, which may lead to claim denial and policy cancellation.
