"It's kind of a dream come true": Cohen Gill on playing for his hometown Braves

Braves play Renfrew back-to-back this weekend

He may only be 17, but Brockville Braves forward Cohen Gill has grown a lot both mentally and physically leading up to his rookie season in the CCHL.

Four years ago, a bike accident put him down, but looking back it was a positive he said because while in recovery, he grew another five to six inches and realized that he could be one of the bigger guys out on the ice.

Now standing at six feet, four inches tall and close to 190 pounds in weight, Gill said it kind of feels like a dream come true playing for his hometown team.

Gill said it's definitely been a step up, but leaning on someone like Braves captain Kayden Buller has helped him a lot.

He also said it's a great feeling to be teammates with his long time firend and fellow hometown rookie, Drake Sled. One week ago, Gill earned his first CCHL point in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Nepean Raiders.

Tonight, the Braves get set to host the Renfrew Wolves and Gill says Renfrew's a good team, but not as good as them.

Puck drop is 7:30 at the Brockville Memorial Centre.
