No one was injured
A 32-year-old man is in police custody following a high-risk incident at a Perth Street residence on Saturday.
Brockville police say they were called at about 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 after a dispute between a mother and her son escalated. The man reportedly took a kitchen knife and threatened his mother before moving to an upstairs bedroom, where he barricaded himself and made statements about self-harm.
Officers secured the scene and called in the Brockville Police Emergency Response Team. Negotiations led to the man surrendering the knife and a quantity of methamphetamine. No one was injured.
The individual was arrested and charged with uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing. Police say their swift and careful response prevented any injuries during the incident.
