Residents across northern, central and eastern Ontario may soon notice more military vehicles on local highways.
The Canadian Armed Forces say convoys will travel to Garrison Petawawa today (March 20) and March 27, with return trips planned for Sunday, March 22 and March 29. The movement involves Canadian Army Reserve members from 33 Canadian Brigade Group heading to a training exercise known as Ex WOLF AMBUSH.
About 300 soldiers and their equipment will travel in military vehicles and buses along planned routes. Participating units come from several Ontario communities, including Kingston, Ottawa, Brockville, Belleville, Peterborough, Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Oshawa and Cornwall.
Drivers may see convoys on highways 7, 17, 26, 41, 55, 115, 401, 416 and 417. Vehicles may stop briefly for rest, fuel and maintenance during the trips.
The Armed Forces say soldiers will not carry weapons or ammunition during public stops. Officials are asking motorists to use caution and expect minor traffic delays.
