A new awards program launching this fall aims to shine a spotlight on inspiring seniors across the region.

United Way Leeds and Grenville says its “7 under 70 Awards” will recognize older adults who continue to make a strong impact in their communities.

Executive director Hailie Jack explained the main idea of the program.

Jack said the organization is also looking for community members who want to help shape the new initiative.

She noted anyone wanting to get involved is encouraged to join the committee.

She highlighted a story that shows how many great things seniors do not only in the local community, but in communities across Canada.
