North Grenville has been named one of Canada’s most liveable cities for 2026, earning a spot on the Globe and Mail’s national ranking released Jan. 31.

The eastern Ontario municipality placed 56th out of 100 communities evaluated across 10 categories that measure quality of life, economic conditions and social factors. The ranking puts North Grenville on the national map as a growing small community with strong regional ties.

Deputy Mayor John Barclay publicly highlighted the achievement, pointing to the role residents and local leadership have played in shaping the municipality.

The region performed well overall. Ottawa ranked fourth on the list, while Kingston placed 48th, underscoring eastern Ontario’s strong showing.

The Globe and Mail ranking uses a composite score to compare cities across the country. For North Grenville, the recognition reflects increasing attention to communities that balance livability, affordability and proximity to major urban centres.
