Residents in Augusta Township, Brockville and Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal are set to benefit from new accessibility upgrades backed by provincial funding.

On behalf of Raymond Cho, Minister of Seniors and Accessibility, the province announced a $167,459 investment through the Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone grant program. The funding is aimed at removing barriers for seniors and residents with disabilities.

In Augusta Township, $57,310 will support a new galvanized steel ramp and automatic door openers at the North Augusta Community Hall, replacing an aging wooden ramp.

Brockville will receive $52,214 for adaptable seating, wheelchair storage, a permanent hearing loop and automatic washroom doors at the Brockville Arts Centre.

Edwardsburgh/Cardinal will get $57,935 for inclusive outdoor fitness equipment and paved trail connections in Cardinal and Johnstown to promote active living and reduce isolation.

Local officials say the projects will help create more welcoming and accessible community spaces.
