Brockville General Hospital will receive new provincial funding to help reduce wait times for patients needing CT scans, local MPP Steve Clark announced Friday.
Clark, the MPP for Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, shared the news on behalf of Ontario Health Minister Sylvia Jones. The hospital will receive $414,250 to add more hours for its Computed Tomography, or CT, scanner.
The funding is aimed at improving access to diagnostic imaging for patients in Brockville and surrounding communities. Hospital officials say longer operating hours will allow more scans to be completed each week.
CT scans are commonly used to help diagnose injuries and illnesses, including strokes, cancers and internal injuries. Long wait times have been a concern for patients and health-care providers across the province.
Clark said the investment will help ensure residents receive timely care closer to home. He added that reducing wait times remains a priority for the provincial government.
