Officers across the East Region continue to crack down on impaired driving
Ontario Provincial Police say officers across the East Region have continued cracking down on impaired driving during the second week of the annual Festive RIDE campaign.
The program, which began November 20, 2025, targets drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs to keep roads and highways safe over the holiday season.
Since the campaign started, officers from Quinte West to the Quebec border and northwest through the Ottawa Valley have conducted more than 500 roadside checks. These stops have led to 49 arrests for impaired driving. All arrested drivers had their licences suspended for 90 days, their vehicles impounded for seven days, and are scheduled to appear in court.
In addition, nine drivers received three-day licence suspensions after testing in the “warn range” on approved roadside alcohol devices.
The Festive RIDE campaign runs until January 1, 2026, with programs operating day and night, seven days a week. The OPP urges the public to call 911 if they suspect impaired driving.
