Power outage planned for Augusta Township this Sunday

Residents are also advised to keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed and to store water if service could be disrupted

A planned power outage will affect parts of Augusta Township on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., prompting officials to urge residents to prepare in advance.

The outage will cover a wide area of the township as crews complete scheduled maintenance work.

Deputy Mayor Adrian Wynands said residents across a wide area will be affected during the four-hour shutdown.

Wynands also encouraged residents to plan ahead, noting that cold temperatures are expected on Sunday, which could increase risks for those without power.

Township officials are reminding residents to take simple safety steps before the outage begins, including turning off appliances such as stoves and ovens, charging cell phones and essential devices, and using battery-powered alarm clocks.

Residents are also advised to keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed and to store water if service could be disrupted.
