Organizers say the show of support is aimed at strengthening the arena’s bid in the national competition
Regional municipal leaders will gather Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Alaine Chartrand Community Centre in Prescott to show support for the Spencerville Arena as the Kraft Hockeyville campaign enters its final week.
Community Development Coordinator Wendy Van Keulen said local elected officials are expected to attend the rally and take part in a banner signing.
The signing will be followed by brief remarks and a group photo.
The event builds on other Hockeyville activities as neighbouring communities step forward to back the arena and highlight its role in local community life.
After the gathering, the banner will be displayed at the Prescott Arena until 3 p.m. Residents, teams and arena users will be invited to add their names before it returns to Spencerville for the final stretch of the nomination and rally phase.
Van Keulen explained when Spencerville will learn whether it has been named a provincial winner.
