Strong winds are expected to move into the Brockville–Prescott area late this afternoon and continue into the evening, according to Environment Canada.
Wind gusts of 70 to 90 kilometres per hour are possible as a cold front passes through the region. Forecasters say winds will strengthen quickly and shift suddenly to the west late this afternoon or early this evening. A brief gust reaching 90 km/h cannot be ruled out.
Conditions are expected to improve later this evening as winds gradually ease.
Environment Canada warns that the strong winds could lead to localized power outages. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor objects, such as patio furniture, garbage bins and decorations, to prevent damage or injury.
