Summer Company Program supports student entrepreneurs

Summer Company offers the opportunity to learn how to manage a business firsthand, including invoicing, customer relations, and marketing

Students in Leeds Grenville can gain valuable business experience this summer through the Summer Company program, which provides funding, training, and mentorship to help them start and run their own summer businesses. Successful applicants can receive up to $3,000: $1,500 upfront for start-up costs and up to $1,500 after completing program requirements.

The program is open to Ontario residents aged 15 to 29 who are in high school, college, or university. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, not already running a business, and available to commit 8 weeks (high school) or 12 weeks (post-secondary) at roughly 35 hours per week. Students on social assistance may still qualify, and program payments may not affect monthly assistance.

Summer Company offers the opportunity to learn how to manage a business firsthand, including invoicing, customer relations, and marketing. Students can choose nearly any type of independent business, operating full-time in Ontario as a sole proprietorship or corporation. The program starts in June or July and continues through Labour Day.

This hands-on experience provides an excellent foundation for future entrepreneurial success.
