Police say they laid 12 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
Brockville Police say a routine traffic stop led to the seizure of drugs valued at about $18,000 and multiple criminal charges.
Police report officers stopped a vehicle on January 30, at about 11:50 a.m. for a Highway Traffic Act violation. During the investigation, officers arrested a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman for alleged possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Investigators say officers seized about two ounces of fentanyl, three ounces of methamphetamine, a quantity of suspected opioid pills and an undisclosed amount of Canadian cash.
Police allege further investigation showed the male suspect was already serving a Conditional Sentence Order that included a house arrest condition related to a previous drug trafficking conviction.
As a result, police say they laid 12 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, along with charges of possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.
Both accused were held for bail and remain in custody. They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
