Across Canada, 65 per cent of the land mass experiences snow cover for more than six months each year
Winter is almost here, bringing snow and icy conditions to much of Canada.
Melanie Jones, Fire Chief at the Brockville Fire Department, highlighted key outdoor areas that need attention during the colder months.
Jones advised that these areas should be cleared carefully by hand or with a shovel, cautioning against using snow blowers or heavy equipment that could cause damage.
She also stressed the importance of keeping fire hydrants accessible on private property.
Jones also reminded residents to clear snow banks around homes and driveways to ensure safety and easy access.
Across Canada, 65 per cent of the land mass experiences snow cover for more than six months each year.
Changes in snow cover affect both ecological systems and daily human activities, making proper snow management an essential part of winter safety.
