The Ontario Provincial Police say citizen reports are helping make highways safer. This month, Leeds OPP received an online report about ongoing reckless driving around Lyndhurst, including tailgating, speeding, aggressive passing, failure to signal, and unsafe behaviour in a school zone.
Officers responded with focused patrols in the areas mentioned. Their efforts led to one driver being arrested for impaired driving and 11 Provincial Offence Notices being issued for various traffic violations.
The OPP encourages the public to submit online reports for certain driving concerns at opp.ca, noting these reports help officers target problem areas quickly. However, the police warn that dangerous or erratic driving in progress should not be reported online. Anyone in immediate danger should call 9-1-1, while other urgent matters can be reported at 1-888-310-1122.
