Shelters Movers
Shelter Movers is looking for more volunteers to help save lives.
The organization facilitates an individual or families' move out of a situation where there's abuse or violence in the home. Based in Ottawa, Shelters Movers works with other agencies to cover Prescott-Russell and Lanark, Leeds-Grenville among other areas.
Director Heather Brisebois says they're there to help with the common scenario of an individual fleeing a violent situation to stay with a family member temporarily.
According to Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC), the summer months bring hotter, longer days with kids home from school and, often, a rise in family violence by at least 12%.
Shelters Movers Director, Heather Brisebois says her faith in humanity has been restored since joining the organization.
