Augusta Township resident faces multiple assault charges after OPP investigation

A 40-year-old woman from Leeds and the Thousand Islands has been charged following a homicide investigation in Augusta Township. The OPP says Alison Doherty was arrested yesterday and charged with indignity to a dead body. She remains in custody ahead of a court appearance in Brockville today.

An Augusta Township resident is facing multiple charges following an Ontario Provincial Police investigation into alleged assaults involving several victims.

Grenville County OPP responded to a disturbance at a residence in Augusta Township on Jan. 11. The investigation later identified alleged assault-related offences dating back several years.

The accused faces two counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of assault, two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of failing to comply with an order.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

A publication ban has been issued, preventing police from releasing further information.

The Grenville County OPP Crime Unit is leading the investigation with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Services.
