Doherty has been given two days to find new representation
A Brockville court bail hearing for a 40-year-old woman charged in connection with a homicide investigation in Augusta Township was disrupted this afternoon.
Alison Doherty appeared in person after being arrested yesterday and charged with indignity to a dead body. The charge comes as police continue investigating a July 8th death in the township.
Doherty no longer has legal representation after her lawyer, Mr. O'Shaughnessy, withdrew from the case. During the hearing, Doherty accused the lawyer of being a liar and said she planned to fire him anyway.
The hearing was also marked by loud and disruptive behaviour, including shouting, swearing and crying.
Doherty told the court she is innocent and raised concerns about her mental health. She was also told she could be released into the custody of someone other than her parents, subject to the court's decision.
Doherty has been given two days to find new representation. The case remains before the Brockville court as the homicide investigation continues.
