The physicians are mainly emergency doctors, along with some interested in hospitalist and family medicine work
Brockville General Hospital rolled out the welcome mat yesterday to host a group of physicians from the United Kingdom who are interested in moving to the region. The hospital said the visit is an important step in attracting new talent during a time when local health services continue to face staffing pressures.
Hospital CEO and president Julie Caffin said the visiting doctors would get a full tour of the hospital and the community, including local clinics.
The physicians are mainly emergency doctors, along with some interested in hospitalist and family medicine work.
While the visit won’t solve the doctor shortage, Caffin says it will help ease pressure in the emergency department.
The doctors spent the day meeting staff and learning about Ontario’s licensing process.
