Brockville City Council met Tuesday (Oct. 28) to discuss key community and infrastructure updates. Council supported extending Community Improvement Plan (CIP) programs and reviewed an increase to local development charges. Members also announced their intention to designate the Brockville Public Library and the Brockville Arts Centre under the Ontario Heritage Act to preserve the city’s historic landmarks.
Updates were provided on the Market Street West washroom project and other capital improvements planned across the community. Council also voted to request that Via Rail reconsider recent reductions to passenger rail service affecting Brockville.
Council proclaimed October 21 as Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day and recognized November as Women Abuse Prevention Month. The Leeds and Grenville Interval House flag will fly at Tunnel Bay from November 25 to December 11.
