The “Kids These Days” campaign is now in its third year, with Addy among three children featured in advertising across Eastern Ontario
A Brockville girl who survived kidney cancer as a toddler is now sharing her story after another life threatening health crisis involving the sport she loves.
Addalyn “Addy” Myers is one of the local faces of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation’s 2026 “Kids These Days” campaign.
Addy was just 2½ when she was diagnosed with kidney cancer, spending six months in treatment at CHEO.
Nearly seven years later, in May 2024, a horseback riding accident left her with a hole in her heart.
She was flown to SickKids in Toronto, with her mother crediting the CHEO Pediatric Transport Team with saving her life.
Addy’s mom, Leah Ann Myers, says it means a lot to the family to have Addy featured in the campaign.
CHEO Foundation President and CEO Steve Read says Addy’s story shows how the hospital serves families across Eastern Ontario.
Read also talks about the level of care available at CHEO.
Despite the seriousness of her injury, Addy returned to horseback riding just 12 weeks and one day after the accident.
She continues to ride and compete today, and her mom says she is proud of her daughter for persevering through everything she has faced.
The “Kids These Days” campaign is now in its third year, with Addy among three children featured in advertising across Eastern Ontario.
