Noonan says this is a very supportive community
During our monthly conversation, Brockville Police Chief Mark Noonan discussed rising crime concerns, recent police activity and efforts to keep the community safe.
Noonan also warned seniors about distraction thefts involving suspects offering jewelry on the street or inside stores.
He says organized groups are targeting communities across Ontario and encourages residents to walk away and contact police.
In the final week of August alone, officers responded to 367 police occurrences, which led to 43 criminal charges, 40 Highway Traffic Act offences and 22 arrests. Noonan explains what they typically respond to the most.
Noonan says this is a very supportive community, they have a very supportive board, and they're addressing these issues as best they can with the resources that are able to be provided.
