Brockville police responded to several high-priority incidents within about 30 minutes Monday evening, including an intimate partner violence investigation, a missing child report and a weapons complaint.
Around 7 p.m., officers investigating two people allegedly breaching court-ordered no-contact conditions saw both suspects flee. A 29-year-old woman and 46-year-old man were arrested following a brief foot pursuit. Police also recovered a stolen bicycle worth more than $2,000 and returned it to its owner.
While officers were dealing with that incident, police received a report of a missing nine-year-old autistic child who had left her mother near Park Street and Central Avenue. Officers quickly organized a search and found the child safely on North Augusta Road before reuniting her with her mother.
Shortly afterward, officers responded to reports of a youth swinging a machete at the Memorial Centre skateboard park. The youth was taken into custody without injury and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
