Brockville police report 367 occurrences in last week as charges mount

Brockville Police Service officers responded to 367 occurrences in the past week, resulting in 43 criminal charges, 40 highway traffic charges and 22 arrests. Seven people were held for bail hearings.

Police say a Sept. 2 traffic stop involving a 57-year-old Cornwall man led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, brass knuckles and Canadian currency. Officers say the driver initially failed to stop and was later arrested.

He faces seven charges, including failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was released and will appear at a later date.

In a separate investigation, police arrested a 29-year-old man on Sept. 3 after alleging he breached bail conditions prohibiting contact with his former girlfriend.

He faces charges including criminal harassment and multiple counts of failing to comply with release and probation orders. He was held for a bail hearing.
