Police have not announced when their participation in Crime Stoppers could resume
The Brockville Police Service has temporarily suspended its participation in Crime Stoppers following a cybersecurity breach involving the platform used to handle anonymous tips.
The breach affected Navigate360’s P3 platform, a third-party system used by Crime Stoppers to receive confidential information from the public.
Police say their internal technology systems were not affected by the incident. However, they are working to determine the full scope of the breach and assess possible risks to individuals, confidential information and ongoing investigations.
Chief Mark Noonan says protecting confidential information and maintaining public trust are top priorities.
He says the police service will consider resuming its participation only after reviewing the findings and receiving adequate security assurances.
In the meantime, Brockville residents who want to report crime tips or share public safety information must contact the Brockville Police Service directly.
