Police said they will continue working with local health and emergency service partners as officials monitor the situation in the community
Brockville police are warning residents after emergency crews responded to an increased number of suspected drug overdoses in the community.
The Brockville Police Service said the Southeast Public Health Unit has also reported a higher-than-usual number of drug poisoning incidents.
Police said the substances involved are currently unknown, and it is not clear whether the increase will continue.
The warning comes as officials urge residents to be cautious around the unregulated drug supply, which can contain unexpected or dangerous substances.
Police are encouraging residents, service providers and community partners to keep naloxone kits readily available and report concerns about an increase in overdoses, changes to the local drug supply or substances having unexpected effects.
Anyone who experiences or witnesses a suspected overdose should call 911 immediately.
Police said they will continue working with local health and emergency service partners as officials monitor the situation in the community.
