A local military tradition is getting a major birthday celebration, with the Brockville Rifles Veterans Association inviting former and current members, families and supporters to mark the regiment’s 160th anniversary.
The celebration is set for Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Brockville Rifles Armouries at 144 King St. E.
Organizers say the day will offer several ways to connect, beginning with an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors can explore the armouries, connect with others and learn more about the regiment.
A junior ranks mess social is planned from 5 to 10 p.m., followed by DWD ceremonies at 6 p.m., with Capt. (Ret.) Kevin Colwill scheduled to take part.
The veterans association is also asking Brockville Rifles members who did not receive their Depart With Dignity recognition and want to be recognized with other “Brocks” to contact organizers by email.
The event is open to everyone.
