Brockville voters to get rare chance to question mayoral candidates at public debate

The free event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

Brockville residents will get a chance to put their questions directly to mayoral candidates this month.

Tom Linton and Cameron Wales have announced a public mayoral debate for Oct. 14 at Arts Hub Brockville, saying residents have been asking for an opportunity to hear from the candidates.

The free event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The debate will be moderated by 104.9 myFM and 103.7 Giant FM.

The evening will begin with Brockville council and local school board trustee candidates giving two- to three-minute campaign statements.

The mayoral debate will then focus on questions submitted by the public. Linton and Wales say the questions will remain undisclosed to their campaigns until they are asked during the debate.

Residents will also have another chance to meet candidates at an all-candidates event hosted by the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 15 at the Aquatarium.
