Brockville weekend events bring major road and harbour closures

The city is encouraging residents and visitors to allow extra travel time, follow posted detours and watch for increased pedestrian activity throughout the weekend

Motorists and boaters are being urged to plan ahead as several major events bring road and harbour closures across Brockville this weekend.

Ribfest continues along the waterfront through Sunday, with Water Street West closed between Kincaid Street and Home Street until 11:59 p.m. Aug. 9. The popular event is expected to draw large crowds, increasing pedestrian traffic in the downtown waterfront area. The Brockville Museum will remain open during regular business hours.

On Saturday, the Brockville Harbour will close from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as it hosts a lunch stop for the Poker Run. During that time, no boats will be allowed to enter or leave the harbour.

Sunday's Somersault Triathlon will bring additional road closures from 6 a.m. through early afternoon, affecting sections of Water Street East, Ford Street, King Street and the Brockville Railway Tunnel.

The city is encouraging residents and visitors to allow extra travel time, follow posted detours and watch for increased pedestrian activity throughout the weekend.
