Cohort analysis shows more than 80 per cent of students maintained or improved literacy achievement from Grade 3 to Grade 6
At its January 13 board meeting, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) presented an overview of the 2024–25 EQAO results for Grades 3, 6, 9, and the OSSLT. Principal of Curriculum Brenda Reil highlighted trends, cohort insights, and ongoing actions to support student achievement.
The shift to fully online EQAO assessments since 2021–22 has provided four consecutive years of comparable data, enabling the board to track both longitudinal trends and individual student growth. Grade 3 results show reading as a strength, while writing and math require additional support. Grade 6 reading and writing results rose to 83 per cent, slightly below the provincial average, while math continues to need targeted interventions. Grade 9 math scores indicate a seven-point increase, reflecting early benefits of focused programs.
