The 28-bed centre will lose their funding from the counties at year's end
At yesterday's meeting, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville's council voted against a funding extension until March 31, 2026 for Brockville's Cooperative Care Centre.
CCC board member Tony Barnes said it's very disappointing.
Barnes said this is about homelessness, not numbers.
This decision comes after a recommendation for the funding extension beyond December 31 was brought forward during the joint services meeting back on November 4.
Barnes added that community advocacy for the most vulnerable needs to continue.
The 28-bed centre will lose their funding from the counties at year's end.
In response, the counties released their 10-year plan for housing and homelessness which includes 150 new units over ten years and continuing funding for the Cooperative Care Centre through 2025.
Officials say the strategy reflects a strong commitment to improving local housing outcomes.
