A Brockville café and barbershop are teaming up to help the local food bank while giving residents a chance to win.
Sweet Ofelia Cafe & Market announced it is joining forces with 401 Barber Shop to collect canned and non-perishable food for the Brockville and Area Food Bank. Starting next week, every donated item equals one entry into a draw for a $100 Sweet Ofelia gift card.
There is no limit to how many times people can enter.
Donations will be accepted at Sweet Ofelia, with a collection box set up at the shop. The businesses will deliver the items on October 10, and the prize winner will be announced that evening at 8 p.m.
Organizers are encouraging other local businesses to join the movement by offering prizes of their own. They say every can counts in the fight against food insecurity.
