George Wicks, 61, of Elgin, is now charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs
A local man is facing multiple charges after a rear-end crash led to a police investigation Tuesday evening.
Around 6:30 p.m. on May 13, 2025, members of the Leeds County OPP responded to reports of a collision where one vehicle had fled the scene.
The other driver, who stayed behind, was not hurt.
Police later found the suspected vehicle nearby and arrested the driver after he gave a breath sample that tested at more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
George Wicks, 61, of Elgin, is now charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, operating with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, dangerous driving, and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
Anyone with dashcam or home security footage of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
