Returns January 21
The Brockville & District Hospital Foundation wrapped up its first MEDtalks season Wednesday (Sep. 24)with a deep dive into respiratory illnesses led by Dr. Gerald Evans, Infectious Diseases Consultant at Kingston Health Sciences Centre and professor of medicine at Queen’s University.
Evans walked attendees through respiratory tract infections, virus transmission, the impact of the common cold, and the role of vaccinations. A major focus was the “Big Three” viruses—COVID-19, influenza and RSV—including their spread, prevention and what to expect this fall. The session ended with an open forum where participants asked questions directly.
Foundation executive director Trish Buote said Evans’ insights empower the community to stay healthy. Brockville General Hospital CEO Julie Caffin called the talk timely and vital for public well-being.
The Foundation thanked speakers, partners and attendees for a successful season. MEDtalks returns January 21 with a focus on mental health. Recordings are available at bdhfoundation.com/get-involved/medtalks.
