The incident has sparked discussion in the community about respect for roadside tributes and the impact of their removal on grieving families
A roadside memorial in Spencerville at the corner of County Road 44 and 21 was recently removed, leaving family members shocked and upset.
Grandmother Laurie Rusland discovered last week that the memorial for her grandson Lucas had been removed a couple of weeks earlier.
The tribute included a handcrafted wreath and wooden cross.
Rusland is understandably distraught.
She explained the future plan for the memorial.
After reaching out to the Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, Rusland was told the township had no involvement in the removal.
The memorial had been a place of reflection and comfort, honoring the memory of their son.
The incident has sparked discussion in the community about respect for roadside tributes and the impact of their removal on grieving families.
Anyone with information about the removed memorial is asked to contact Brockvillenews@mbcmedia.ca.
