Highway 15 reopened late Friday night, while the OPP investigation continues
A 34-year-old man from Elizabethtown-Kitley is dead and a young child is in critical condition following a three-vehicle collision involving an ambulance on Highway 15 near Lombardy.
Ontario Provincial Police said the head-on crash occurred at about 5 p.m. Friday near Otter Lake Park. The collision involved two passenger vehicles and a Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service ambulance.
Police said the ambulance was returning to base from a call and was not carrying any patients at the time.
The 34-year-old driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. A young child travelling in the same vehicle was airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to CHEO with life-threatening injuries.
The ambulance driver and passenger, both paramedics, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service said Saturday they had been treated and released.
The driver of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries. Highway 15 reopened late Friday night, while the OPP investigation continues.
